Just Received my Drawing 1 Course Materials from the OCA

After over a week of waiting I finally received my course materials from the OCA which have been sitting in the front office of my apartment block for the last three days. The course materials were delivered on Wednesday by UPS (less than 1 week after enrolling so quite good), but the staff in the office failed to inform me they arrived.

I have just filled in my student profile and sent it to my tutor and I shall now spend the next day reading through the materials and letting it sink in

Finally Enrolled with the Open College of Arts

After some really helpful emails I decided to work towards the BA (hons) Painting with the OCA and finally enrolled for the first course, Drawing Level 1, on the 9th of January. I am studying with the Open College of the Arts from Thailand and so course materials will hopefully be with me before the end of next week then I can crack on with my 'quite a' distance learning.

I received my 'Welcome to the Open College of the Arts' email Friday evening (here) complete with my logins to OCA Students, their students' portal, so I spent a few hours Saturday having a feel around and completing the 'An Introduction to Studying at HE' course, which was quite helpful.

Deciding to Study the BA (hons) Painting Distance Learning

I have been teaching English here in Bangkok for over 9 years, but lack the formal qualifications to become a real teacher and so my future here is uncertain. This uncertainty pushed me to make a decision and I have decided to enrol for an undergraduate degree course in something I feel passionate about, art.

With lack of international courses in art here in Thailand I searched on Google for distance learning and came across the Open College of Art. After some very informative emails that put my mind at ease I decided on pursuing a BA (hons) Painting, not only will this degree help me get the qualifications needed to teach art (along with the teaching qualifications of course) but the courses involved will help me to develop skills needed to become an accomplished artist.
